Happy World Teachers’ Day!

Noun | A person who teaches, especially in a school.

World Teachers’ Day, also known as International Teachers’ Day, was established in 1994. The day is set aside to celebrate the signing of the 1966 United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization/International Labour Organization recommendation regarding the status of teachers.

Over the past two years, we have witnessed the importance of teaching and teachers firsthand. In 2020 many of us found ourselves filling the teacher role in a student’s life. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even siblings took on a role that they may not have been fully equipped for.  

This is why we want to celebrate educators for all that they do! Along with the celebration of World Teachers’ Day, the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture is launching an Educator Appreciation Campaign and we need your help. We are asking participants to write down an educator that has inspired them on a piece of paper (or whiteboard), take a photo with it, and submit the photo via the form linked here. You are also welcome to include a quote from your educator on the form. All submissions will be included in a rotating slideshow during the Flapjack Fundraiser at our Annual Convention this coming January.
